ENVIRONMENTAL POLICY
LABORATORIO LMAR S.A.S. is committed to protecting the environment and achieving sustainable development. To accomplish this, we have developed a culture of sustainability and environmental responsibility among employees, partners, and the wider community. We integrate sustainable practices and utilize clean technologies for our processes and products in order to help reduce our impact on the environment.
Through our prevention and continuous improvement programs we will continue to seek ways in which to optimize the use of resources, maintain social responsibility, undertake continuous improvement of the work environment, and build strong relationships with local authorities, suppliers, and customers.
Every level of Laboratorio L´MAR is actively involved in ensuring the socialization and implementation of our environmental policy.
WATER SUSTAINABILITY
At LABORATORIO LMAR S.A.S we have developed a water recycling system to facilitate the reuse of clean industrial water at our production sites. This water is reused for cleaning processes, such as the cleaning and disinfecting of our sanitary facilities. This enables us to optimize our water consumption, limit our environmental impact, and contribute to sustainable development.
REDUCING ENERGY CONSUMPTION
We are currently implementing energy efficient processes which include the installation of electrical machines that allow for speed control and energy-management. This will enable us to reduce the speed of our motors when high speeds are not required. We are also currently reviewing a new lighting system which will involve the use of solar energy to light parts of our warehouse such as circulation areas.
USE OF BIOREMEDIATION DURING PRE-TREATMENT PROCESS
We are in the process of implementing the use of bioremediation as a sustainable alternative to treating wastewater produced during the production process. Bioremediation utilizes the biological processes of organisms to clean up and treat contaminated water before this water is discharged.
DEPARTMENT OF ENVIRONMENTAL MANAGEMENT
Our environmental and sanitation management group, referred to as GAGAS in Spanish (Grupo Administrativo Gestión Ambiental y Sanitaria), forms a direct link between management, administration, the productive sector, and environmental personnel, with the purpose of ensuring compliance with current environmental policy and regulations. This is achieved through a periodic tracking and monitoring of our consumption, conservation, and of the waste that is generated.
SUSTAINABLE MANUFACTURING
We are registered with the environmental compliance register referred to as RUA in Spanish (Registro Único Ambiental), demonstrating our commitment and ongoing compliance with environmental standards and regulations.
PARTNERING WITH SPECIALIZED & CERTIFIED WASTE MANAGEMENT COMPANIES
When it comes to our waste disposal, we exclusively partner with companies that have a waste management certification as well as those with permits issued by local environmental agencies that comply with environmental regulations. The service these waste management companies offer us includes collection of our recyclable and non-recyclable waste, waste treatment, transportation, and waste disposal, all carried out efficiently and in a way that is safe for the environment. We also work with a company that provide us with a monthly pest control service.
WASTEWATER PRETREATMENT
LABORATORIO LMAR S.A.S has implemented a system of wastewater pretreatment which makes use of a grease trap, which itself is thoroughly and regularly cleaned. The wastewater enters the drainage system, allowing for the water flow to slow down which then leads for the grease to rise to the top. It is then collected for disposal by a certified cleaning service company.
IMPLEMENTING WATER MANAGEMENT PLANS TO REDUCE WATER USE
To further lessen our impact on the environment, we have a program and measures in place to achieve and promote sustainable water use across our facilities. These include educating staff on effective water conservation through awareness training, as well as the installation of water efficient technologies which enable us to conserve water without compromising or significantly altering our production process.
USE OF BIODEGRADABLE SOAPS TO WASH MANUFACTURING EQUIPMENT
LABORATORIO LMAR S.A.S makes use of environmentally friendly cleaning products, such as biodegradable soaps, to wash and clean manufacturing equipment. Using biodegradable soaps and eco-friendly cleaning products helps prevent the contamination of waterways and further reduces our impact on the environment.
ENVIRONMENTAL AWARENESS TRAINING
Through our environmental education program, we provide routine training with the aim of increasing knowledge of environmental regulations and of solid waste and liquid waste management practices. The environmental awareness training is carried out with the purpose of helping suppliers and clients better grasp their environmental responsibilities and to facilitate the implementation of waste management practices.
SOLID WASTE MANAGEMENT PLAN
At LABORATORIO LMAR S.A.S we have an integrated solid waste management plan which outlines a classification of waste in order to facilitate its management and the recovery of any useful materials, with the aim of helping to maximize the sustainable use of natural resources.
